R2S KOREA · OVERVIEW
Competition Overview
Race 2 Space Korea is a hands-on educational competition built so university propulsion teams can turn ideas into hardware they manufacture, instrument and test.
Race 2 Space Korea and Race 2 Space UK are closely connected regional programmes within one Race 2 Space competition framework. Their Korea and UK directing groups operate regional schedules and test sites while using the same application and open-source documentation system, and the programmes come together again at the UK symposium.
WHY WE EXIST
A design should not end on paper.
Rocket propulsion is learned most deeply by building real hardware and testing it safely. Yet university teams rarely gain access to specialist test facilities, instrumentation, safety processes and experienced technical review in one place. Race 2 Space Korea exists to narrow that gap.

WHAT WE BUILD
From a student engine to a test-ready system.
We connect practical standards and feedback across PDR, CDR, manufacturing, instrumentation and test preparation so a strong idea can become a system that is ready to be verified.
Learn by building
Teams own an open-ended problem from requirements and design through manufacture, instrumentation and testing.
Prepare to test safely
Technical documentation, design review and safety readiness are connected to a structured testing opportunity.
Grow through open exchange
Teams share PDR, CDR and TRR documents, design decisions and lessons learned throughout the competition, strengthening student capability and Korea’s propulsion ecosystem.

OUR GOAL
Beyond one test, we build capability and relationships that last.
A successful hot fire is not the only outcome. Our larger goal is to help teams analyse failure, redesign with confidence, communicate technical decisions clearly and carry what they learn forward to future teams and Korea’s propulsion ecosystem.
For students
Real responsibility for a complex system, carried through to evidence and verification outside the classroom.
For industry and academia
A bridge connecting better-prepared talent and university teams with industry, turning open technical exchange into lasting capability across Korea’s propulsion ecosystem.
For sponsors and supporters
A direct way to make student growth and meaningful testing opportunities possible.
BUILD THE NEXT TEST
Help make the next testing opportunity possible.
Financial, in-kind, test-infrastructure, technical mentoring and operational support give student teams the foundation to test safer, more complete hardware.

BRAND GUIDE
Race 2 Space brand guide
These are the essential principles from the official 2024–25 guide published by Race 2 Space UK. Read the complete document in the PDF viewer.
- Name
- Use “Race 2 Space Korea” on first reference. “R2S Korea” may be used afterwards when the context is clear.
- Logo
- Preserve the official mark’s proportions and clear space. Do not add unapproved colours, outlines, shadows or effects.
- Competition distinction
- Describe Race 2 Space Korea and Race 2 Space UK as coordinated regional programmes within one competition framework, never as a hierarchy or as one programme subordinated to the other.
